SMM1, December 14, 2019-at 20:45 on December 27, 2019, the "long March 5" Yao 3 carrier rocket ignited and lifted off from the Wenchang Space launch site in China. About 2220 seconds later, the stars and arrows separated, accurately sending the No. 20 satellite into the intended orbit, and the launch test mission was a complete success. "long March No. 5" has many core components and important components using high-end special steel materials provided by Northeast Special Steel, including more than 20 varieties of high strength steel, superalloy and stainless steel series, as well as a variety of grades of high strength stainless steel wire, alloy cold heading steel wire, alloy spring steel wire, stainless steel wire, special stainless steel strip and so on. Northeast Special Steel once again made an important contribution to the successful launch of "long March 5".

It is understood that the long March 5 is a milestone in the upgrading of China's carrier rockets, has significantly improved China's ability to enter space, and is an important symbol of China's transition from a major space power to a space power. When providing special steel materials for "long March No. 5", users require that the products must have high purity, stable microstructure and properties and good surface quality. As early as more than ten years ago, in order to ensure the smooth research and development of liquid hydrogen liquid oxygen and liquid oxygen coal you engine, the researchers of Northeast Special Steel Fushun Company have produced and developed a number of types and specifications of new materials used in low temperature environment and oxygen-rich gas conditions. In this process, the technicians overcome the difficulties of strict component control, poor plasticity and high organizational stability, carried out a series of technical research, ensured the timely delivery of the products, and realized the stable supply of multiple batches. According to SMM, the steel used in rocket engine needs to have a variety of characteristics, among which high strength is an important index that must be met. In the past, the yield strength of austenitic stainless steel used in domestic engines was about 300 MPA, while the material used in the new generation of launch vehicles was 2 to 4 times the strength of austenitic stainless steel used in domestic engines. In the past, most of the space materials in China were used abroad in the 1960s and 1970s, but now the technology is more advanced and the properties of the same materials are better. For the reusable rocket engine being developed in China, the use time is longer, SMM believes that its interior has to be repeatedly immersed in coal you, but can not be disassembled, the test of anti-rust ability will be more severe.
